• Greenhouse Gases: Capture, and Thermo / Electro / Photo‐Catalytic Valorisation to Value‐added Chemicals

The project CAPCATVAL covers three important targets:

CO2 capture and utilization

N2O decomposition and utilization

CAPCATVAL will be focused on:

Both thermocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic processes will be conducted to the production of platform molecules from CO2 or N2O, i.e. “building blocks”, in the chemical industry. The desired products are methane, methanol, dimethylether, light olefins, acetic acid and linear aldehydes.

The goal of this project is to increase process efficiency in order to accelerate the deployment of efficient, stable and competitive catalytic technologies. In this sense, the core of this project will be focused on:

  • The design of new and innovative materials with well‐defined active sites.

  • The optimization of the reaction conditions throughout kinetic studies.

  • Fundamental knowledge of active sites, including electrochemical, advanced spectroscopic and operando studies.
